DSDS June Summer Intensive 2012

The girls participated in DSDS's June Intensive (basically dance camp). Abigail did ballet, jazz, tumbling, and hip hop. DSDS brought in guest teachers to work with the students in their specialized areas. These pictures are of Abigail in her hip hop class, which I think was her favorite. She certainly got a good workout every day and left dance hot, sweaty, and out of breath.

The twins got to be in class with one of their best friends Isabelle. They did ballet, tap, and tumbling.

Let's Play Ball

We have been doing Tee-Ball and Tiger Ball (coach pitch) since the middle of May, the season is about two weeks from being over and I finally remembered to bring my camera to the girls games this week. I think each of them has made quite a bit of progress since the beginning of the season.

The Twins Team was the Pizza Pie Cafe Pirates
Emily practicing catching a grounder.

 Elizabeth practices catching grounders.

 Emily throws the ball.

Elizabeth concentrates very hard when she throws the ball.

Batter Up - Elizabeth (she is able to hit the ball when it is pitched to her most times).

Elizabeth runs to 3rd.

Emily likes to check out the stands before she bats.

Time for a water break! Emily (above) & Elizabeth (below)

Abigail's team name was the Tot Spot Purple Dragons

There are only two girls on Abigail's team, but they can hold their own.

Dancing In Color

We have had a CRAZY-BUSY summer this year with projects, camping trips, music recitals, T-Ball and coach pitch, and dance. WHEW! Dance season is finally over and the girls did awesome in their recital. This year's theme was Dancing In Color. The twins color was Yellow and they did a tap routine to The Yellow Rose of Texas and a ballet routine to You Are My Sunshine. Abigail's color was Green and she did a ballet routine to Greensleeves, a tap routine to The Green Grass Grows All Around, and a jazz routine to Get Your Sparkle On. Unfortunately, with seven costume changes between the three girls, I only got pictures of the girls in their ballet costumes. I have decided that I am going to need a personal assistant if we keep this Dance thing up much longer and I think we will cause the girls LOVE it. The girls all did very well in the recital, but I am definatley most impressed with Abigail. She has improved by leaps and bounds (no pun intended) this year. She was front and center in all of her dances and I could tell that she was one of the leaders in her class. She will be moving up a level next year and I look forward to seeing her challenged that way.
Elizabeth is usually a bit shy when it comes to dance, but she was a little fire-cracker on recital day and Emily wasn't sure how to handle it.
Emily decided that she needed to wear her cow girl boots before her performance to get in "cow girl" mode for the Yellow Rose of Texas.

Such a fierce face Liz. You get 'em.

GARAGE SALE

As soon as we found out that we have a little BOY coming our way in October, we decided that it was time for a Garage Sale. The timing couldn't have been better cause Heather and Shane are moving to Bountiful, Utah in two days and they were wanting to get rid of some things to make their move a little bit lighter. We combined forces and had a HUGE garage sale. I got rid of 28 (18 gallon) totes of little girl things and did pretty well. We did a sale two Saturdays in a row and I am pretty pleased with the results.
Abigail had to cease the moment and do a lemonade & soda stand. She is such a cute little sales person. Who could turn that face down? I finished out her sales for her because she wasn't feeling well and needed to rest.

Summer Projects

Darin loves to start new projects every summer and these are two that he is working on. He built a railing on our front steps. The railing goes all the way to the ground, I just didn't get a picture of the finished project. He is also building a two level play house for the girls. They are really excited for their new playhouse and are eager to help their daddy with his projects. I am sure we will have more pictures in the near future.

We're Camping in the Rain

Every year once spring rolls around, Darin is itching to go camping. He LOVES to camp and the girls Love it too. I like it for the most part, but it is a whole lot of work for not very comfortable accomodations. The family time was fun, but it was COLD and RAINY. Our Wall Tent leaked really bad so we had to put up tarps. Darin had a blast roasting hot dogs in the rain and the girls partied it up inside the tent. I was along for the family bonding time and that was good.
