We LOVE Driggs!!!

We have decided to make it a family tradition to go to Driggs, Idaho the weekend before the 4th of July. The Huntsman Cancer Foundation puts on a huge event every year called Celebrating America. There is a Street Carnival with food, bounce houses, face painting, a car show, BMX bike show, and air show, hypmotists, and magic shows. The best thing about it is that it is ALL FREE except for the food. At the end of the day they always have an inspirational speaker and an AMAZING fireworks show. This year the speaker was John Huntsman Jr.

We found a great camp ground and stayed in a cabin this year. The kids had a blast, and we will probably be returning to this campsite in the future. It was the Teton Valley Campground in Victor, Idaho.
The campground had a swimming pool. The kids loved swimming, Darin and I tried, but it was way too cold for us.
There were also some fun play areas.

We headed to THE SPUD drive-in movie theater to watch BRAVE. I love that drive in! The tickets are reasonable and the kids can play in the yard until the movie starts, they also have pretty good food. We definately hope to return every year! The only downside is that the movie starts at 9:45 p.m. when it gets dark, so we had to make sure that the girls got a good nap in before going to the show.
Our first stop at Celebrating America was the face painting booth.

Abigail got a firework.
Elizabeth got a spider.
Emily got a ladybug.

Our next stop was the bounce houses. There were about 10 bounce houses for the kids to climb on and they had a blast.

Riding the bounce house bull for 8 seconds. Liz is not too sure about the whole thing.

Next we looked at the old cars.

The twins especially loved the old cars.
We took a break in the middle of the day and went to the Grand Targhee Ski Resort and rode the ski lift up to the top of the mountain to look around. Darin has great memories of skiing at Targhee with his buddy from Ricks College, Ben Weston.

We returned to Celebrating America for Dinner. Elizabeth loved the corn on the cob  and Misty loved the shade.

We sat in the lawn and listened to a live band. The girls danced for 2 hours in the lawn non-stop. John Huntsman joined the band for the last two songs on the keyboard. He really knew how to get down to Mustang Sally. He and his dad, John Huntsman Sr. spoke and delivered a very patriotic, spiritual message, and then the best firework show I have ever seen ensued. We are so greatful to be Americans!

Below is a clip of some of the spectacular firework show.
